Jacobs Hope Cafeteria

At the Jacobs Hope Cafeteria, the Hope Center serves three hot meals every day to men in our Emergency Shelter — with dinner also open to anyone in the community facing food insecurity. Each year, thousands of meals are prepared and served, providing nourishment, stability, and dignity to those who need it most.

Meals Served Every Day

The Jacobs Hope Cafeteria is more than just a kitchen — it’s a gathering place of care and connection.

  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner served daily to Emergency Shelter clients
  • Dinner open to all food-insecure individuals in Lexington
  • Meals made fresh by staff, served with the help of volunteers

For many, a hot meal is the first step toward healing, connection, and hope.

Volunteer-Powered Kitchen

The heart of the cafeteria is its volunteers. While staff prepare and cook the meals, volunteers serve them with kindness and dignity, ensuring each person feels seen and cared for.

Whether you’re an individual, a church group, or a business, there are opportunities to:

  • Help serve meals
  • Donate food or supplies
  • Sponsor a meal for the community

Why Meals Matter

Food is more than nutrition — it is stability, comfort, and a foundation for recovery.

In a community where housing costs and instability are rising, the need for free meals is greater than ever. According to the Department of Education, 1,097 students were homeless during the 2023–2024 school year. Families in unstable housing situations often rely on community meal services like Jacobs Hope for basic support.

A warm meal can be the simplest and most powerful act of care — and often the first step toward recovery.

Get Involved

You can make a difference by helping us feed Lexington’s most vulnerable neighbors.

  • Donate to support thousands of meals each year
  • Sponsor a meal in honor of a loved one or special occasion
  • Volunteer your time to serve directly in the cafeteria
