2008 Grand Prix

The Rood & Riddle Kentucky Grand Prix will be held Saturday, August 23 at the Kentucky Horse Park. Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital has hosted the Grand Prix for the last six years to raise funds for the Hope Center and the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation.  

1 p.m.          the event begins at the Walnut Arena equine entertainment including a Parade of Breeds and Clay Maier and his spectacular Friesians

1:55 p.m.      The Lexington Police Mounted Unit will present the Colors during the National Anthem

2 p.m.                    Grand Prix competition begins  

As the featured afternoon activity of Hats Off to Kentucky’s Horse Industry Day, General admission to the Kentucky Grand Prix is free.  “Hats Off Day” is a special day at the Horse Park to celebrate the Kentucky Horse Industry and begins at 10 a.m. General admission, pony rides, special exhibits, children’s activities and park activities are free to all. Horse farm and equine business ball caps will also be given to the public while supplies last. 

Lunch and special seating for Grand Prix spectators is available in the Sponsors’ Tent. Sponsors’ Tent patrons enjoy a gourmet buffet luncheon at tables for eight with a ring side view of the Walnut Arena action. Tickets for this venue are $100 per person or $800 for a table for eight with proceeds going to the Hope Center and Kentucky Horse Park Foundation. 

“The Hope Center is honored to benefit from this prestigious event,” said Cecil Dunn, Executive Director of the Hope Center. “The Hope Center has received over $100,000 from this event since it’s been hosted by Rood and Riddle.”  

The Kentucky Grand Prix is a National Level event and has been conducted annually for 24 years.  The event provides the opportunity to see top-level show jumpers, have good family fun and support a great cause.
